Dr. Karen E. Holland is a distinguished Higher Education Administrator with three decades of extensive experience spanning various domains within Predominantly White Institutions (PWIs) and Historically Black Colleges and universities (HBCUs). With a profound commitment to teaching, student advocacy, and well-being, she serves as a beacon of mentorship and allyship in fostering academic excellence and mental wellness. Within her role as Student Services and Mental Wellness expert at Delaware State university-DSU (College of Agriculture, Science & Technology) CAST.
Dr. Holland exhibits a relentless dedication to ensuring student safety and holistic development. Her expertise extends to grants administration, where she efficiently manages resources to support educational endeavors. Furthermore, she actively engages in chaperoning research fellows/students, teaching, and facilitating other enriching experiences beyond the classroom. Summer 2024, HBCU Faculty Development Network, increasing her awareness and use of Artificial Intelligence in educational research design and a five-week workshop as a member of the inaugural cohort for #BlackTech Black Public Interest (BPIT).
Dr. Holland's academic journey encompasses three-time University of Pennsylvania Alumna, a Master of Social Work degree, specializing in Social Policy and Practice, with a focus on child welfare, mental wellness, and Alzheimer's disease support. Her impactful work in student counseling and parenting curriculums, particularly for court-mandated parents and homeless women & and children in Philadelphia, exemplifies her unwavering commitment to community welfare. In her pursuit of advancing educational paradigms.
Dr. Holland attained an Ed.D., delving into the intricate workings of Higher educational systems. Her doctoral research culminated in the publication of "Servant Leadership Effects on Mentoring in Higher Education in the United States" in 2021, contributing significantly to the discourse on mentorship within academia. Drawing from her rich academic background and practical experience, Dr. Holland excels as an Adjunct Affiliate Faculty in the DSU-College of Humanities, Education, and Social Sciences (CHESS), where she imparts knowledge and wisdom to aspiring educators. Her repertoire of online teaching spans a diverse array of subjects, including research writing seminars, human resource management, and contemporary issues in higher education. She is particularly adept at qualitative research methods and research design incorporating cutting-edge approaches such as artificial intelligence (AI) into Higher Educational research design.
Beyond academia, Dr. Holland remains deeply entrenched in cultural pursuits, having been an active member of a classical/gospel music choir for over two decades.
